Amanda (left) & Julie (right) enduring a vicious early morning attack by Amanda's family's dogs.
We are two young women in love- and trying to get married in Montreal, Canada (silly USA) on June 16th, 2007… but need to raise the money to do it. We don’t want anything extravagant – just some family and friends watching two chicks crazy in love, tying the knot.
This is where you come in.
…we’re trying to beat the odds.
Julie actually has a wedding fund from her family…it could easily pay for this entire affair. But, since she is intending to marry a woman, she is not given a cent of this.
Nothing.
And though Amanda’s family is willing to give what they can, they are not able to provide much.
A wedding is expensive, no matter how you slice it. We don’t even care to add the extras…no flowers, no music- those things don’t matter so much. What we’re looking for is enough for two dresses, a location, officiant and dinner for us all.
We know that in these times we’re all strapped for cash – and sometimes the last thing you want to do is give yours to some strange people you don’t know. If you support same sex marriage… all we ask is that you give a dollar, and mention us to a friend….we’re trying to raise a seemingly impossible amount…and we’re trying hard to do something honorable that respects the beautiful relationship we have.
Every penny goes to the wedding.
If, for some reason, you feel like you can offer more than a dollar….we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.. If you decide to be unbelievably generous and give a thousand – you and a guest are invited to the wedding. We’re going to try to throw the best party we can from what we receive.
Help us celebrate our special day.
We believe that everyone should have the right to marry who they love, and to make a commitment to that person in front of guests, in public, and in a place where they are legally recognized as equal.
In real life, we’re the most normal gals you could think of. We like to linger in bed far too long, hold hands while walking down the street looking at holiday decorations, and celebrate anniversaries with such thankfulness that we have found our soulmate in this world. We are walking into this with much love, but with much thoughtfulness… we know that getting married in Canada means that you can’t divorce unless you live there for a year…we know that it won’t be recognized in this country…but, we’re in this for the long haul.
Help us make this happen.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
Julie & Amanda
